Third District units responded to this 2-alarm apartment fire in February 2000. The fire was under control within 45 minutes.
1. As the fire looked from over a block away.
2. First-in crews assess the scene and pull the
attack lines.
3. One crew utilizes a 1 3/4 inch attack line
while another crew readies the 2 1/2 inch attack line for deployment.
4. With the 2 1/2 inch line in place, a crew
makes its way to the 2nd floor.
5. The crew on the second floor nears the seat
of the fire under the cover of the 2 1/2.
6. The blaze was confined to the second floor
of the apartment building, with significant heat damage to the truck in
the driveway and to the siding on the residence adjacent. There was
no extension of fire to the adjacent residence.
